A partnership between the luxury British watchmaker Bremont and the honourable Ministry of Defence, can only mean great things for watch collectors. Born from a combination of both innovation and historical pride, Burrells is proud to present the Bremont Armed Forces Collection.
A PRESTIGIOUS PARTNERSHIP
Bremont has previously worked alongside British Military personnel, having tried and tested special projects at their request. This makes a perfect foundation, on which to form an alliance to create together a range of watches that will commemorate our Armed Forces.
To celebrate the launch of this monumental partnership, Bremont has developed this very poignant collection. Built on honour and pride, this military-inspired range pays homage to Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, comprising of three new chronometer rated timepieces; one for each of the military branches.
Although each watch differs in design, Bremont has collectively incorporated the emblems of the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force onto each case back. The exclusivity of this new partnership means that Bremont will become the sole luxury watch producer to use the iconic heraldic badges of all three services legitimately.
This collaboration also marks the first time that civilians can purchase official Bremont Military timepieces, making it one for the watch history books.
A HISTORICAL INSPIRATION
The inspiration for this special Armed Forces Collection is drawn from the original ‘Dirty Dozen’ watches. The ‘Dirty Dozen’ series was a collection of specifically designed timepieces commissioned for the British Army during World War II, when Britain’s Ministry of Defence needed to issue watches to military personnel.
Produced by various watch brands, each model had to be compliant to strict performance specifications including:
- luminous markings on the dial
- waterproof regulation to chronometer specification
- a robust case construction
To commemorate the criteria of which the ‘Dirty Dozen’ was based, Bremont has designed three sturdy timepieces that reflect the needs of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces today. Basking in the nostalgia of original 1940s design, Bremont has developed a new yet more traditional two-piece casing with a screw-in, stamped case back.
The stylish Bremont Armed Forces Collection aims to appeal to military personnel and civilians alike.
THE BREMONT BROADSWORD
THE BRITISH ARMY
The first of the new timepieces we will take an in-depth look at from The Armed Forces Collection, is the Bremont Broadsword.
This model is a contemporary take on the traditional, three handed ‘Dirty Dozen’ model. With similar dial layout and detailing, the new Broadsword features a sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock and the original British Army specification of hands and dial indicators coated in multiple layers of luminous paint.
An added feature to the dial of the new Broadsword is a date aperture positioned at 3 o’clock. The new two-piece, harden steel case measures at 40mm in diameter and houses the BE-95-2AV automatic movement, chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standard.
This movement is made up of 31 jewels, vibrating at 28,800 beats per hour and supplying a power reserve of up to 38-hours.
The Bremont Broadsword comes complete with the 20mm military coloured Khaki green, sailcloth strap and is also water resistance of up to 10 ATM/100 meters. This gives it a feeling reminiscent of the traditional Army colours.
THE BREMONT ARROW
THE ROYAL AIR FORCE
The second in the Bremont Armed Forces Collection is the Bremont Arrow. Directed at the airmen within the forces, this model boasts a precise chronograph functionality.
At 9 o’clock on the black metal dial, you can see the running seconds sub-dial. This is mirrored by the chronograph elapsed minutes dial positioned at 3 o’clock. A date aperture can also be found at the 6 o’clock marker.
Crafted from steel, the two-piece hardened case is sized at 42mm in diameter with the stopwatch pusher at 2 o’clock. This pusher will start, stop and reset the stopwatch on the BE-51AE automatic movement, chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standard.
This movement is made up of 27 jewels, vibrating at 28,800 beats per hour and supplying a power reserve of up to 48-hours.
The Bremont Arrow comes complete with the 20mm RAF blue coloured sailcloth strap and is also water resistance of up to 10 ATM/100 meters. Built on the same British military DNA as the Broadsword, the Arrow is engineered with steadfast accuracy and legibility.
THE BREMONT ARGONAUT
THE ROYAL NAVY
The third and final timepiece in the Bremont Armed Forces Collection, is the Bremont Argonaut. An exciting military dive watch whose name is inspired by Greek mythology and closely associated with The Royal Navy's history.
Specifically designed for the marine environment, the legibility and readability of the Argonaut was a crucial aspect when designing. As minutes are so crucial in this volatile sector, the two vital hands and the inner rotating bezel have to be highly legible.
The minute hand is coloured in bright orange and is filled with custom green Super-LumiNova®. The central hand also features a bright orange tip, again filled with the Super-LumiNova® to ensure clear readability.
The casing on this compelling new dive watch consists of the two-piece hardened case is sized at 42mm in diameter. Two crowns feature on the casing, with the crown positioned at 4 o’clock controlling the inner rotating bezel.
Powered by the BE-92AV automatic movement, chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standard. This divers model inspired by the magnificent ‘Dirty Dozen’ collection, completes the trio of official Bremont Military timepieces, proudly honouring Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.
